Marginalised communities in Bangladesh still face significant hurdles in accessing education due a lack of information technology. The Children’s Hope IT support programme was commissioned by New Look LTD to increase access to tech in Dhaka and enhance the learning process for our sponsored students.

Our Holistic Approach to Education

A child’s education does not end in the classroom. As such, Children’s Hope is committed to bridging the gap between students’ academic and personal lives through our RP Mentor Programme. This programme aims to support students’ mental and physical wellbeing and create a safe-space for communication and personal growth.

Children's Hope has helped 131 sponsored students graduate from university. Every single student is the first in their family to attend and successfully complete a Bachelors. We are honoured to help each of these students to break the cycle of poverty.

Our Initiatives

  • UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

    As of 2023, Children's Hope has seen 131 sponsored students graduate from university. Every single student is the first in their family to attend and successfully complete higher education.

  • VALUABLE SUPPORT SCHEME AND SPECIALIST COACHING

    We understand that school comes with its own set of challenges. At Children’s Hope, we are deeply invested in the success and well-being of each child in our programme. As such, we conduct regular intervention and coaching sessions to give every student the specialised support they need to achieve to the best of their ability. We also provide university entrance coaching to ensure our students equal access to top Bangladeshi universities.

  • EXTRA CURRICULAR PROGRAMMES

    We believe extracurricular activities are just as important for a child’s education as studying in the classroom. All children in the sponsored programme are given the opportunity to participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities to enrich their education. Our hope is that each child will be able to deepen their understanding of the world around them.

  • VOLUNTEERING SCHEME

    At Children's Hope, we deeply value building community. Our Volunteering Scheme aims to build relationships between older student mentors and younger students in the programme.

  • SUCCESSFUL SSC (GCSE) STUDENTS

    We are proud of our sponsored students motivation and hard-work in the face of adversity. Our SSC exam (equivalent to UK GCSE's) success rate is 99.9%, with an overall average student GPA of 94.5%. 

  • CAREER ADVICE SESSIONS

    Our support scheme doesn't end after graduation. To ensure the best chance of success for our sponsored students, we provide expert career advice sessions to help guide students towards the right careers for them. We work with each student to tailor a plan for their professional future. Once graduated, we also help our students to secure permanent employment.

I dreamed of becoming a doctor

I’m Aysha Akter Turna. I embarked on Children’s Hope (CH) sponsorship program in 2009 when I was in class VII. From my childhood, I had a dream to become a doctor. But I was born in a very poor family and my parents could not send me to an appropriate school. This was until Children’s Hope came to my life, and I soon found hope and confidence  to fulfil my dream.

With the help of the comprehensive education program, today I am a medical student at Mymensing Medical College. I live at the medical college campus, this became possible because of the non-residence facility of Children’s Hope Education option, which enabled me to live and study outside home. My family is not able to bear the extra cost of my accommodation and food incurred due to living on site.

In addition to my monthly residential cost, I also receive from Children's Hope the full education expenses as a medical student.

“I am Shamima Akter Lopa, a 17-year-old student in the second year, Intermediate level at BCSC College, the equivalent of Sixth Form. When I was a student of class 6, I became sponsored by Children’s Hope. Since primary school, I always dreamt of becoming a doctor but, as I was one of five children in a family with a low income, that dream was never going to happen, until I joined the Children’s Hope scheme. In addition to my educational help the charity supports my family, their medical treatments and also my nutritional needs. Children’s Hope plays a vital role in fulfilling my ambition as a doctor. “

“My name is Rehang Parvin. I became a sponsored child with Children’s Hope when I was just 12 years old as my stepmother could not afford my education fees, even though I wished to study more. The comprehensive support I received from Children’s Hope has allowed me to achieve academic success in both secondary and further education. Today I am completing a Masters in English Literature at a private University in Bangladesh. When I graduate I would like to train to be an English teacher because this is a subject most students with limited resources find difficult to learn. I believe any student who has the passion to learn and who receives the right support can master anything.”

“I am Amena Khatun. I am 21 and now in my second year studying for a degree in chemistry. Coming from a very poor family in the Bauniabandh slum in the Mirpur area of Dhaka city, with a younger brother and a sister, my parents could not afford to send us all to school. This opportunity was made possible by the Children’s Hope sponsorship scheme who offered financial assistance when I was 14-years-old at Kalshi school. My fate changed when Children’s Hope stepped in, now I can study as long as I want and become a doctor because Children’s Hope will bear all my educational expenses all the way. Thanks to the charity, I now have the privilege of studying in a school without worrying about paying fees.”
